What is the Corporate Transparency Act (CTA)?
The Corporate Transparency Act (CTA) is a new anti-money laundering (AML) law that was passed by Congress in 2021. The law requires certain businesses to file a Beneficial Ownership Information (BOI) report with the Financial Crimes Enforcement Network (FinCEN). The goal of the CTA is to make it more difficult for criminals to use corporations to hide their illegal activities.
